Srila Prabhupada

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
ISKCON Founder-Acarya
His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, commonly known as Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the Hare Krishna movement, is an empowered messenger of God who appeared in this world to help us reawaken to our spiritual identity. He had a special mandate from his spiritual teacher to bring the eternal spiritual truths of Krishna consciousness, contained in the Vedic scriptures of India, to the Western world.

Srila Prabhupada accepted this daunting task and made it his life's mission. At the advanced age of 70 years, he came to the United States with no assistants and no money. He depended fully on the mercy of Lord Krishna and was able to persevere where others had failed.

In a tiny storefront in the East Village of New York City, Srila Prabhupada started the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in 1966. From 1966 to 1977 Srila Prabhupada preached vigorously all over the world, opening more than 100 centres and introducing Krishna consciousness to millions of people. He also translated and published many spiritual books and encouraged their distribution.

We get a glimpse of Srila Prabhupada's elevated and empowered spiritual position from the lasting effect he has had in changing the lives of so many.
Since his departure from this world in 1977, his disciples have carried on his mission. It is their desire that his legacy will some day be more widely appreciated by the masses, as well as the leaders of the world.

Best Definition of God according to Vedas

Source In the Vedas, it is said, parasya saktir vividhaiva sruyate : “The varieties of energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead are differently known." So let’s look at some of those varieties. First off, God is the personal aspect of The Absolute Truth which encompasses the Supreme controller, the living entities, the spiritual and material universes, time and activity. He is the original cause of all causes, an undifferentiated entity as there is no distinction between potency and the possessor thereof. He is the absolute substantive principle being the ultimate entity in the form of the support of all existence both natural and supernatural.

The Essence of the Srimad Bhagavatam

Source The essence of Srimad Bhagavatam is the essence of everything. It is the essence of all the Vedas, all philosophy, all knowledge, all theology, all religion, and all activity. This is not hyperbole it can be demonstrated. Let us accept that the Vedas contain all the relevant knowledge for mankind. But it is not well-known how little of the Vedas remain today.

How can we render service to Lord Krishna? With example.

Source The only service Krishna is interested in is service that is done with love and devotion. He is not in need of anything, but being a perfect ‘gentleman’ He appreciates anything done for Him with love. So step one is to develop our relationship with Krishna. Everything is based on this point of relationship.

What is Bhakti Yoga?

Source: Krsna app Bhakti yoga is obviously a yoga process, so just a few words on what a yoga process is. Between us and the absolute truth is the material manifestation. It’s born of the modes of nature and contains the dualities of material life based on attachment and aversion with which we identify at every second. More importantly, it obscures the supreme reality from us. A yoga process is a way to neutralize the effects of the material manifestation so that we are connected or joined with the absolute truth again. The absolute truth, as it turns out, is full of ananda - bliss, and when we are connected or joined with it and the effects of the material manifestation are neutralized, we can share in that bliss, and give up the less interesting happiness and distress of material life. All the yoga processes contain a well-delineated series of actions that can be done with the mind and body, and rely on the individual’s proficiency in applying their process. Except for Bhak...

The Hare Krishna Maha mantra - Simplest way to attain Salvation

Source Chanting Hare Krishna is the simplest way to attain salvation. Chanting Hare Krishna develops bhakti and in Kali-yuga the most effective way to salvation is by developing bhakti through chanting Hare Krishna which is the simplest of all systems of self-realization. One can meditate, perform jajnas, perform opulent deity worship, study relentlessly, follow one’s prescribed duties perfectly, but unless there is a touch of bhakti added, they will not be successful. In previous yugas different means of salvation were practised. At those times the power, intellect and opulence of people was far higher than today, and they were able to achieve success through different methods. The life span was longer so they could sit and meditate for thousands of years. They could scrutinise and remember all the Vedas. (We have only about 6% of them today). The brahmanas had great power through their purity and perfection of chanting mantras. They had access to many kilos, (maybe tons) ...
