ISKCON YOUTH FORUM  [IYF]

As a pure spirit soul, each individual is primarily blissful and happy in nature. However being victimized by the unhealthy and competitive lifestyles, the youth especially are experiencing the resultant frustrations. Newspaper reports reveal increasing youth related crimes, a sad consequence of blind, hedonistic pursuits, championed by the modern society.

ISKCON Youth Forum (IYF) is the youth wing of International Society for Krishna Consciousness.

Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON'S Founder Acharya, always wanted young Indians to take up Krishna Consciousness very seriously in their own lives and help to spread it all over the world, fulfilling the order of Lord Caitanya. ISKCON YOUTH FORUM offers a nourishing package of lifestyle management to keep the body and soul in good shape and provides a meaningful purpose to students' academic pursuits. Inevitably, the younger generation blossoms to become an asset to the society.

Discover Your Self (DYS) Course

The interested candidates from the one time programs can register for the Six sessions certificate course on DISCOVER YOUR SELF. This course puts a foundation on basic understanding of topics like:
  • Can a Scientist believe in God?
  • Getting the eyes to see God
  • Vedic wisdom – privilege of humankind
  • Science of Soul
  • Substance and Shadow
  • If God is one, why there are so many different religions?

Ashraya
For those who are chanting 16 rounds for over six months. Now it is time for them to learn subtler aspects of philosophy, to go from ‘What to do?’ to ‘How to do better?’ and to go from ‘rendering service’ to ‘rendering service in appropriate consciousness’. Also it is time for them to develop a deep faith in the philosophy of KC and to frankly clarify all the lingering doubts in the heart so that they can march ahead in the royal path of KC smoothly. As they emerge as leaders, preachers and managers they need fine tuning of their behavior, consciousness and way of thinking.

Spiritual Retreats

Regular Camps
Among various activities of I.Y.F., its Trip to Vrindavana is most attractive. Around 100-150 youths go to this two day tour. In Vrindavana, we take part in all the activities of Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir; bathe in the Yamuna River, visit to many other famous temples and nearby pilgrimage like Nandagaon, Barsana, Goverdhan, Radha Kund, Shyama Kund, etc., relishes nectar-like Krishna-Prasadam and enjoy the transcendental Kirtan. The Spiritual Environment of Vrindavana gives us a transcendental pleasure and feelings which are out of this world. This Yatra within the sanctified atmosphere of Vrindavana rejuvenates the youth to balace their academic and spiritual pursuits. An outing like this brings the students closer to God, Nature and each other. Similar camps go to Barsana and Jaipur.

Annual Kartik Yatra
Every Year, in the month of Kartik, an IYF yatra is organised. Visiting Places of Lord Krishna's pastimes is of prime importance in this period. ISKCON devotees from around the world and India come to Sridham Vrindavan. Ahmedabad IYF organizes a 3-day camp, which includes lectures, dramas and cultural presentations as well as visit to nearby places like Gokul, Nandgaon, Goverdhan and Barsana.

Annual Mayapur Parikrama
In the month of Feb-March, around Gaura Purnima, a 10-days camp is organized. In this the IYF devotees visit Sridham Mayapur which is situated 120 Km from kolkata in West Bengal. Mayapur temple celebrates the International Festival around this time. Thousands of devotees from across the globe gather to go for a 7-day Parikrama of the 9-islands known as navadvipa. In this camp, the participants stay in camps setup in the rustic countryside. Includes trekking and boating.

Festivals

Umang

Among various activities organised by ISKCON Youth Forum Ahmedabad, "UMANG" is one of the most special and famous. An innovative annual festival, "UMANG" focusses on the contemporary social issues/ problems faced by the youth. Hundreds of youths all over from the city attend it with great enthusiasm. The younger lot who are constantly enamored by the razzle dazzle of the western culture can accept a spiritual process only when they are inspired and actually witness Krishna consciousness in action. This festival therefore provides a wonderful oppurtunity to behold and experience the complete package of Krishna consciousness, through the medium of video shows, lectures, slides & skits, multi media presentations, ecstatic dancing kirtans and sumptuous Prasadam delicacies. Students from various colleges and professionals from many fields have already participated in this festival.

Best Definition of God according to Vedas

Source In the Vedas, it is said, parasya saktir vividhaiva sruyate : “The varieties of energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead are differently known." So let’s look at some of those varieties. First off, God is the personal aspect of The Absolute Truth which encompasses the Supreme controller, the living entities, the spiritual and material universes, time and activity. He is the original cause of all causes, an undifferentiated entity as there is no distinction between potency and the possessor thereof. He is the absolute substantive principle being the ultimate entity in the form of the support of all existence both natural and supernatural.

Who is Shri Krishna? His Personality, Colour, the Absolute

Source Sri Krishna is the son of Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaja and the younger brother of Balarama. He is the boyfriend of Radharani and many other beautiful young girls who live in and around Vrindavan.

The Essence of the Srimad Bhagavatam

Source The essence of Srimad Bhagavatam is the essence of everything. It is the essence of all the Vedas, all philosophy, all knowledge, all theology, all religion, and all activity. This is not hyperbole it can be demonstrated. Let us accept that the Vedas contain all the relevant knowledge for mankind. But it is not well-known how little of the Vedas remain today.

How can we render service to Lord Krishna? With example.

Source The only service Krishna is interested in is service that is done with love and devotion. He is not in need of anything, but being a perfect ‘gentleman’ He appreciates anything done for Him with love. So step one is to develop our relationship with Krishna. Everything is based on this point of relationship.

What is Bhakti Yoga?

Source: Krsna app Bhakti yoga is obviously a yoga process, so just a few words on what a yoga process is. Between us and the absolute truth is the material manifestation. It’s born of the modes of nature and contains the dualities of material life based on attachment and aversion with which we identify at every second. More importantly, it obscures the supreme reality from us. A yoga process is a way to neutralize the effects of the material manifestation so that we are connected or joined with the absolute truth again. The absolute truth, as it turns out, is full of ananda - bliss, and when we are connected or joined with it and the effects of the material manifestation are neutralized, we can share in that bliss, and give up the less interesting happiness and distress of material life. All the yoga processes contain a well-delineated series of actions that can be done with the mind and body, and rely on the individual’s proficiency in applying their process. Except for Bhak

What to do if we don't enjoy chanting Hare Krishna Maha Mantra like other devotees?

Source There’s only one reason we don’t enjoy chanting, and that’s because we aren’t chanting properly. When I started chanting we would say this verse below together, after reciting the ten offences. Then we would all start chanting and go into our own worlds. If one is infested with the ten offenses in the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, despite his endeavor to chant the holy name for many births, he will not get the love of Godhead that is the ultimate goal of this chanting. Adi 8.16 It’s an offences to chant inattentively and it’s also an offence to maintain material desires. Wanting our own enjoyment is close enough to a material desire, and obviously a wandering mind results in inattentiveness. So there are a couple of issues. But these are not reasons to stop chanting. It just means there’s a little work to be done. Billions of people have wanted direct experience of God for thousands and thousands of years. History shows that it’s not a common experience a
