Obviously there are many questions to which the answer is not directly ‘Lord Krishna’ but every line of questioning, if pursued to its end, will terminate with Lord Krishna simply because He is the Absolute Truth.
Sometimes people are confused over how a person can be ‘The Truth’. They think ‘truth’ is an evaluation of a statement. “Are you telling the truth?”
But, ‘The Truth’ means more than this, it means what is real as opposed to illusory, what is factual as opposed to false, what is substantial as opposed to imaginary. The Absolute Truth is real/factual/substantial at all times, in all places, under all circumstances. Any things that are temporary or imaginary are dependent on the Absolute Truth, because that is what is always real or true. Without something being absolutely real nothing can exist, so Krishna is that something.
When growing children play the why? why? why? why? game, the answer that finally stops the next ‘why’ is “Because that’s how Krishna is.” There is no answer to “Why is Krishna like that?” Krishna is like that because that’s how He is, there is no cause to Him being like that because He is the first cause. He has always been like that.
Because Krishna is how He is, everything else is how it is because Krishna is the first cause.
“Ha!” goes a certain type of atheist, “Gotcha! That means Krishna must be evil because evil exists.” No, Krishna allows each individual to develop their consciousness in whatever direction they want. If you are drawn towards evil and cruelty you are allowed to be. There will be consequences, but you are allowed to go down that path if you want.
Why?
Because we have microscopic free will.
Why?
Because Krishna has free-will.
Why?
Because that’s how Krishna is.
Then what about all the suffering in the world, all the infant mortalities, all the murders, the natural disasters and diseases, the droughts, floods, and famines, why does Krishan want all those?
Krishna doesn’t want all those.
Why do they happen?
Because actions have consequences and people act in ways that bring suffering on themselves later.
Why?
Because we have microscopic free will and make those choices.
Why?
Because Krishna has free will.
Why are some people so attractive. Not just in looks but in their manner and bearing or their natures.
Because we are parts of Krishna and Krishna is all attractive.
Why?
Because that’s how Krishna is.
Why can nature be breathtakingly magnificent, and beautiful?
Because Krishna is amazingly artistic.
Why?
Because that’s how Krishna is.
Okay, so why is nature sometimes so cruel? (gotcha!)
The ‘cruelty’ in nature is experienced by living beings, not rocks and rivers.
So what?
Living entities have microscopic independence to make choices that result in them being treated cruelly.
Why would they do that?
Because they are always looking for ways to enjoy in the material world and as a result mistreat others.
Why?
They are looking for ways to enjoy because Krishna is always looking for new ways to enjoy. They are mistreating others because they don’t realize the consequences of their actions.
Why?
Because they are covered by ignorance and passion.
Why?
Because they have chosen them.
Why?
Because they have microscopic free will.
Okay, I know because that’s how Krishna is. So what about science? Why is water made from hydrogen and oxygen?
That, and all other material phenomena discovered by scientists are Krishna’s arrangement.
Why?
It’s the way Krishna set up the material world.
Why?
Because He wants to give a place for living beings who don’t want to be with Him.
But why hydrogen and oxygen for water?
Because it works, and Krishna wants the universe to work because it has a purpose to fulfill.
Why?
Because Krishna wants the living entities to have a chance to enjoy in the material world, see that it doesn’t work, and then return to Him.
Why?
Because He would rather we be where we are actually happy instead of trying to be happy, but He won’t hold us against our will.
Why?
Because that’s how Krishna is.
Then why does He let us come here in the first place?
Because we have free will.
Aaagh! Why does Krishna give us free will?
Free will is what distinguishes the living from the dead. If we didn’t have free will we would be dead. If you want that, you can be manifest as a piece of inert matter which has no ability to think, feel or will. Ponder carefully if you want to keep or surrender your free will.
Alright, I’ll keep it, but I want to go back to Krishna.
Fine, chant Hare Krishna without offenses and you will.
Why?
Lord Chaitanya has promised it.
Why?
Because He wants to give everyone the easiest opportunity to purify themselves and return to Krishna.
Why?
Because He is Krishna and that’s how Krishna is.
Hmph! Why can’t I go back if I am not pure?
Not pure means you have some material desires. There is no scope for fulfilling material desires in the spiritual world, so why would Krishna take you to a place where you can’t do what you want?
(mutters) I can’t do what I want here anyway.
Very good! So give up the desires and you are free.
I can’t do it on my own.
Don’t worry, chant Krishna’s names and He will help you.
Why?
BECAUSE THAT’S HOW KRISHNA IS.
